Shihan Molly Hulbert
Shihan Penny Cheketri
Penny Cheketri is the owner of Cheketri Karate. She has been practising karate for over 40 years. Shihan Penny is a 7th Dan black belt in Goju Ryu Okinawakan Karate and a 6th Dan in Okinwakan Kobudo. She was awarded the title Renshi in recognition of her high standard of karate teaching as well as the title Shihan meaning master.
Penny was awarded 6th Dan in Dentokan Goju Ryu and 5th Dan in Dentokan Kobujutsu, Traditional Martial Arts Weapons and the title of Shihan and Renshi in this art as well. She is the Head of Dentokan in New Zealand.
She is also a black belt in Detokan Iaido (sword-katana) and Dentokan Aikijujutsu.
Penny competed and won gold medal at the World Goju Ryu competition in 2017 and again in 2019. She also won a gold and silver medal at the New Zealand National in 2018.
Molly Hulbert is a senior instructor and has been practising karate for over 30 years. She focuses on traditional karate and was awarded her 5th dan black belt for Goju Ryu Okinawakan Karate in 2018. She has a broad experience and knowledge of karate and martial arts. Molly was awarded her 3rd Dan in the art of Dentokan Kobudjutsu (traditional weapons).
In addition to this she is a black in Dentokan Iaijutsu (sword- katana)
